"The project is composed of two parts. In the first part, we will analyze the temporal and spatial variations of the thermospheric density as measured by the accelerometer aboard the Champ satellite, whose polar orbit is very well suited for this purpose and whose lifetime covers the half of the solar activity cycle. In the analysis we will focus especially on the correlation of the density variations with the new proxies of the solar activity in EUV (Mg II, E10.7), on the temporal changes of the thermospheric density with respect to the geographical latitude, and the propagation of the density waves. The second part of the project will be devoted to the improvement of the thermospheric density model DTM, and this will be accomplished first through the verification of the model algorithm in its current state, and next by utilizing the results of the Champ data analysis."@en . .
