"Generation of focused shock waves by pulse electrical discharges in water which are able to destroy an acoustically homogeneous tissue locally by the action of cavitation originated just near focal point of the shock wave. Due to the dependence of sound speed in water on pressure, the primary pressure pulse is transformed during its focusing to a pressure shock wave followed by a rarefaction wave. By a proper choice of amplitude and time course of the primary pressure pulse, the amplitude of rarefaction wave can exceed cavitation threshold just near the focal point. In the first stage we will verify possibility of a local destruction of cells in acoustically homogeneous medium. In the second stage the biological experiments will be extended to soft tissues of experimental animals. Comparison of results of the physical and the biological experiments enable us to optimise the generator of focused shock wave."@en . .
