"The aim of this project is to strengthen the inter-disciplinary collaboration between the three applicant's groups. The proposed research will include inorganic syntheses of structurally optimized inhibitors of HIV-PR based on a wide-range of available boron cluster building-blocks and organic fragments. A deeper understanding of the inhibitory activity and mechanism will be sought by both in vitro and in vivo testing of selected molecules in tissue cultures. These developments will be aimed at compounds able to inhibit a range of structurally different mutant forms and that are selectively inhibitors. An integral part of this proposal is the structural and theoretical study of the inhibitor-enzyme binding mechanism and a physical-chemical study of the behaviour of ionic cluster systems in water solution. The results from these studies will guide development of drug delivery system. A further aim is to search new structural motifs that are able to inhibit other viral enzymes."@en . "0"^^ . .
