"1"^^ . "The aim of our project is to investigate the role of microflora and food components in chronic intestinal inflammation. Immunodeficient animal models with spontaneously or experimentally induced intestinal inflammation will be used. In order to find environmental antigen responsible for inflammation, mice with IL-2 disrupted gene will be reared in germfree conditions and colonised with various bacterial strains. We will concentrate our attention to immune factors which may influence the development of intestinal lesions. Specifically the role of leukocyte recirculation in fucosyltransferase knockout and control mice will be determined. Moreover, we plan to elucidate the role of impairment of oral tolerance to luminal antigens in triggering of autoimmune reactions. For comparison, biopsy material and sera from patients with inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease will be analysed."@en . . "3936"^^ .
