"The project investigates 16S rDNA intragenomic heterogeneity in symbiotic bacteria and its influence on reconstruction of coevolutionary relationships. Our previous research showed that in Arsenophonus triatominarum, symbiont of triatomines, different copies of 16S rDNA provide conflicting phylogenies. This finding, together with high degree of compositional bias, suggests that A. triatominarum may have been associated with its host for considerably longer time than indicated by their incongruent phylogenies. We suggest that this phenomenon applies to other secondary symbionts and should be taken into account when inferring the coevolution. In the project, we map number and heterogeneity of 16S rDNA copies in lineages of Arsenophonus bacteria. To obtain more complex picture, we will screen for additional Arsenophonus lineages in insects. We use the degree of composition bias and the calculation of divergence times as subsidiary source of information on relative age of the associations."@en . "0"^^ . . . .
