. "The project aims at development and practical implementation of a new stereological method for length measurement having no reguirements on section orientation. Further, different methods for measuring geometrical characteristics will be compared, exploiting the opportunities provided by confocql microscopy. Theoretical and practical studies of efficiency of selected methods will be performed. In practical measurements, the surface area of cell walls in tobacco cell chains or grass leaf mesophyll cells and the length of cytoskeletal structures of tobacco cells will be extimetd. The effect of technical limitations emerging during capturing images by a confocal microscope on the possible bias in surface area and length estimates will be studied.
