"\"Aim of the project is controlled synthesis of well-defineg copolymers based on cellulose derivatives (backbone) grafted with vinyl monomers by the modern atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Initiation sites of polymerization will be generated along the chain of, e.g., cellulose ester, by acylation of the residual hydroxygroups with appropriate agent under various conditions, so that their density will be controlled in a wide range. The prepared multifunctional macroinitiators will be applied to a graft copolymerization of vinyl monomers (styrene, acrylates, methacrylates), giving copolymers with variable density, length and chemical structure of the grafts. Thus, a wide scale of copolymers will be prepared in this way, having various application properties, which will be tested using common methods (rheology, modulus, impact resistance, etc.) The project should lead to novel polymer materials based, at least to a certain extent, on \"\"geen\"\" polymers from renewable sources.\""@en . .
