"The project is focused on study of interfacial and electrochemical properties of synthetic oligonucleotides (ON) with respect to their nucleotide sequence, secondary structure and chemical modification. We will study in detail the relations between the ON primary structure, their interactions with electrically charged surfaces and electroactivity of the base residues. Behavior ONs adopting different secondary structures at electrodes (adsorption/desorption properties, accessibility of nucleobases to electrochemical reduction/oxidation, and potential-induced structural changes at the electrode surface) will be investigated. Similarly, chemically modified ONs (e.g.,involving alkylated bases or metal adducts) will be studied. The properties of DNA ONs will be compared with RNA and/or with other synthetic nucleic acids analogues. We expect that results of this project will contribute to understanding of the ON behavior at electrodes and will be utilized in development of novel DNA sensors."@en . . . "0"^^ . . .
