"Control of the phase structure and properties of immiscible polymer blends is very important for their utilization in practice. It has been shown that the morphology of polymer blends in solid state is strongly affected by processes during their cooling in quiescent state. These processes are not well understood so far. The aim of the project is to contribute to understanding of the mechanisms of the phase structure coarsening at cooling of polymer blends and to the formulation of rules describing dependence of the rate of the coarsening on system parameters. For the achievement of this aim, coalescence in quiescent state for blends without and with a compatibilizer will be studied. The effect of the phase structure of immiscible polymer blends on crystalization of their components will be investigated. Mutual effects of the coalescence and crystallization at cooling of polymer blends will be analyzed. Results of the project will contribute to better control of the blend properties."@en . . . .
