"The project proposes to develop a novel hybrid deposition technique based on a suitable combination of e-beam evaporation, pulsed laser deposition, magnetron sputtering and auxiliary ion beam source for fabrication of nanostructured fluoride thin films doped by rare-earth (RE) ions. The attention will be paid to the preparation of structures with outstanding fluorescent properties, for instance, fluoride waveguides with controlled nanostructured RE ion dopant distribution, nanocrystals of Yb, Er and Pr and oxides (ZnO) embedded in fluoride matrices or amorphous oxyfluoride waveguiding matrices with RE-doped fluoride nanocrystals (Er;Pr:LaF3). The wide range of analytic methods will be applied to examination of influences of deposition parameters on structural properties and their consequences for the optical properties and fluorescence. In the final stage of the project our attention will be focused on the design and elaboration of the fluorescent, waveguiding functional structure."@en . . .
