The objective of this paper is to show differences between aeronautical and railway safety philosophies from view point of Global Navigational Satellite System (GNSS) applications. The practical meaning and derivation of the Galileo SIS quality measures are presented and practical design of a safe Train Position Locator (TPL) by means of quality measures is shown. Influence and impact of integrity and continuity risks on safety and dependability of a safety-related system are described. The interpretation of the Galileo quality measures in terms of RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) according to the standard EN 50126 is proposed. Předmětem článku je ukázat rozdíly ve filozofiích bezpečnosti v letectví a na železnici z hlediska aplikací GNSS. Je prezentován praktický význam a odvození ukazatelů kvality satelitního signálu Galileo a také praktický návrh bezpečného vlakového polohového lokátoru pomocí těchto ukazatelů kvality. Je popsán vliv a dopad rizika integrity a kontinuity na bezpečnost a spolehlivost zabezpečovacího systému. Je navržen překlad ukazatelů kvality Galileo do parametrů RAMS (bezporuchovost, pohotovost, udržovatelnost a bezpečnost) dle standardu EN 50126.
