Coating of polystyrene sheets with SiOx layer was performed by employing an atmospheric pressure plasma device. Mixtures of hexamethyldisiloxane with different compositions of carrier gas based on synthetic air, oxygen, and/or nitrogen were utilized for coating deposition. The chemical composition and morphology of the deposited layers were characterized by free surface energy evaluation, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and UV-vis spectrophotometry.
