This paper deals with the adaptive LQ control of the conductivity inside the CSTR. Although the chemical process is simple dilution of the NaCl inside the clear water, the nonlinearity can be found in peristaltic pumps which are used for feeding of the reactor. Used adaptive approach is based on the choice of the external linear model parameters of which are identified recursively during the control. Polynomial synthesis together with the LQ approach satisfies basic control requirements such as stability, asymptotic tracking of the reference signal and disturbance attenuation.
