Chrome cake was used to prepare tanning liquors according to the following procedure: The charge of potassium dichromate was tipped into the high beaker; water was added and after dissolution of dichromate sulphuric acid was added. The content was continuously mixed with shaft blender and brought to boiling point. Chrome cake was added step by step by small portions. After the whole amount of the cake was added the reaction mixture was mixed at boiling for another 30 minutes. Tanning liquor thus prepared was then analysed: Cr2O3 = 149.8 g/l, basicity = 39.7 %Sch, density = 40 oBé and pH = 3.1. To verify prepared tanning liquor a pieces of white-hide from pigskins were detracted from pickling liquor from TAREX tanneries in Otrokovice (The Czech Republic). Tanning experiments proved that chrome cake may replace chromium and reducing agent at preparation of tanning liquors. K přípravě chromitých břeček byl použit koláč podle následujícího předpisu: k dávce dichromanu draselného v třepací láhvi se přidá voda a po rozpuštění se přidá kyselina sírová. Obsahem se neustále míchá a zahřívá se k varu. Poté se po malých dávkách přidává chromitý koláč. Po úplném přidání se směs míchá za varu dalších 30 minut. Připravené činící břečky byly podrobeny analýse s těmito výsledky: Cr2O3 = 149.8 g/l, basicita = 39.7 %Sch, hustota = 40 oBé and pH = 3.1. Vlastnosti připravených břeček se ověřily na kouscích vepřovicových holin odebraných z koželužen TAREX, Otrokovice. Výsledky experimentů prokázaly, že chromitý koláče může nahradit chróm při přípravě činících břeček.
