The paper compares methods of the on-line identification of a controlled system: project algorithm, least square method with exponential forgetting and with adaptive directional forgetting. The paper focuses on the usage of these methods for decentralised adaptive control. The methods are compared from several points of view: the speed and the accuracy of parameter convergence are compared, the robustness of the methods are discussed with respect to the initial estimation of the controlled system parameters, and the algorithm requirements of a computer hardware are mentioned. The practical results are obtained from the process of adaptive control of two-input two-output (TITO) linear system. The identification methods are tested as a part of simulationof adaptive decentralised control. The controllers parameters are computed on base of the pole placement method.
