EN 1990 for the basis of structural design provides general principles of reliability differentiation taking into account failure consequences. Structures are classified into three reliability classes RC1 to RC3 for which the supplementary load factors KFI used as additional multipliers of unfavourable actions are introduced. In addition EN 1992-1-1 for design of concrete structures provides reduced partial factors for concrete and reinforcement considering the quality control of production and available information. It is shown that reliability of reinforced concrete members varies with their reinforcement ratio and undifferentiated reduction of the partial factors may be inadequate. Submitted study indicates that the simultaneous application of both concepts may lead to an insufficient reliability level.
