To describe the operations of the mammalian medial and lateral superior olive complexes, we distinguish between the excitatory coincidence detection (ECD) and the inhibitory coincidence detection (ICD). We show how the output gains of the mechanism predict the notch within the frequency-sensitivity range, originally described in the human psychophysical experiments. Abychom popsali činnost mediální a laterální olivy superior u savců, rozlišujeme mezi excitační detekcí koincidence a inhibiční detekcí koincidence. Ukazujeme, jak je možné z výstupních charakteristik našeho modelu reprodukovat zářez v křivce citlivosti pozorovaný v psychofyzikálních experimentech.
