The chapter deals with the acrylamide-based recording material for the optical holography. The behavior of the material during a holographic exposure is described and simulated with our new immobilization-diffusion theory. The preparation procedure of thin photopolymer layers is described and their characteristics are given. The real-time behavior of the material is measured with our exposition and detection setup. A sample of the photopolymer is exposed with a harmonic interfence field inducing the growth of a diffraction grating, which is simultaneously measured. The influence of different exposure parameters and chemical composition has been studied. Based on the measurements, the exposure and composition of the material has been optimized.
