High strength steel (HSS) sheets are used in the car industry for the construction of reinforcement parts due to their high strength and ability to absorb plastic deformation, which leads to the better crashworthiness of the car. Mechanical properties of HSSs are given by their fine microstructure. Nevertheless, it is necessary to join individual parts of the car body. For this purpose spot welding technology is very often used. Disadvantage of this technology is a fact that materials of the welded parts can be affected in the zone of the spot welds by introduced thermal field and grain growth, recrystallization, shrinkage cavities formation, or oxidation can occur. Such defects can deteriorate mechanical properties of the whole structure. It is important to be sure that spot welds do not influence the materials performance beyond a tolerable limit. This research succeeds our previous studies in which fracture and impact toughness of several grades of HSS sheets were evaluated. Vysokopevnostní oceli se používají v automobilovém průmyslu pro jejich vysokou pevnost a schopnost absorbovat plastickou deformaci, což vede k zvýšení nárazové odolnosti automobilu. Mechanické vlastnosti vysokopevnostních ocelí jsou dány jejich jemnozrnnou mikrostrukturou. Je ale třeba spojovat různé části konstrukce, k čemuž se často používá bodového sváření. Nevýhodou této technologie je, že materiál svařovaných částí může být v okolí svaru ovlivněn vneseným teplotním polem, což může vést k růstu zrna, rekrystalizaci, staženinám či oxidaci. Tyto jevy zhoršují mechanické vlastnosti celé struktury. Je důležité zajistit, aby bodový svar nezhoršil vlastnosti materiálu přes přípustnou mez. Tato studie navazuje na naši předchozí práci, ve které byla stanovována lomová a vrubová houževnatost několika typů vysokopevnostních ocelí.
