High concentration of radon was measured in most of the houses located in Jáchymov town in the formerly uranium mining area. The contamination of the building materials by elevated concentrations of the uranium-radium array elements was supposed. In case of a high level irradiation of the apartment occupants, it is necessary to consider the possibility of all the radon sources location and their full removal. For the determination of the radon sources were used the laboratory and in situ gamma spectrometry methods and in situ dose rate measurements along profiles set-up inside houses. These methods allowed the level of gamma radiation monitoring during the remedial building works. An independent issue is the economic aspect of possible repairs. V Jáchymově se nachází řada domů s vysokými objemovými aktivitami radonu a vysokými dávkovými příkony gama. Pro lokalizaci zdrojú radonu a označení míst pro uskutečnění ozdravných opatření byla použita metoda kolimované gama spektrometrie a měření dávkových příkonů.
