In distributed system containing multiple clocks, precision time synchronization can by achieved using IEEE 1588 protocol. This paper presents a hardware assisted implementation using the STM32 Connectivity Line (STM32C) processor. Accuracy of time synchronization depends on timestamping technique. Several techniques are discussed but hardware timestamping of STM32C processor is used to achieve best performance. Overall accuracy of time synchronization depends also on oscillator stability of each node. Allan deviation of Master and Slave nodes is measured to determine short and long term stability of both local oscillators.
