his article presents a modern generation of information systems in the area of historical artefact record keeping, based on ontology modelling techniques. The weaknesses of classical database-oriented systems are described and compared with ontology-based solutions. Advanced knowledge exploration based on knowledge technologies like operational knowledge processing languages enable to perforin tasks that were unachievable by the former approaches.
