This paper brings up a new compensation method which combines a thermal transfer function modelling of high nonlinear thermo-mechanical system with Matlab system identification toolbox and Matlab simulink. Due to its relative simplicity it enables real-time calculation and makes them suitable for compensation algorithms of machine tool thermal displacements at tool centre point without any intervention into its structure. The applicability and robustness of thermal transfer function compensational model have been experimentally verified on a real machine tool with minimum of additional gauges.
