This paper presents an experimental experience with manufacturing of functional parts of the mechanical system using rapid prototyping. We have designed two functional different parts of experimental instrument. One part is used as geometrically complicated reducer of fluid piping and mechanical spacer at once. The second part was designed like movable flexure structure for optical system mirrors adjustment. We performed few functional and geometrical tests on fabricated parts. We summarize a review of dimensional and geometrical differences between CAD data and manufactured parts. We determined that dimensions of the smallest details successfully manufactured using rapid prototyping technology are limited with surface tension of rapid prototyping material in its liquid state. Tento článek popisuje využití funkčních mechanických částí zařízení vyrobených metodou rapid prototypingu. Byly vytvořeny dva typy součástí a to tvarově komplikovaná přechodka pro přívod tekutiny a mechanický justážní systém pro nastavení zrcadlového optického systému. Byly provedeny funkční testy a vyhodnoceny geometrické odchylky vyrobených součástí. Bylo zjištěno, že tvarově správná výroba nejmenších možných detailů na součástech je omezena povrchovým napětím použitého materiálu pro rapid prototypiny v tekutém stavu.
