This article deals with the use of multi criterion analysis and CFD modelling for optimisation of reconstructions of water sources objects and water tanks. This approach can be applied also for other parts of drinking water supply system. Reconstructions of objects and infrastructure for drinking water supply are necessary for function of the whole system and these methods help to analyse the problems and determinate the priorities. This approach can help to optimise costs and benefits. In second part the optimisation of water exchange in the selected water tank was solved, specifically the effect of an inflow direction into the tank on flow, residence time and the occurrence of dead zones of water in the tank. The assessment is based on the results of the CFD 3D mathematical model of the tank. The research was provided at the Department of Sanitary and Ecological Engineering CTU in Prague.
