The work summarizes the knowledge from the field of experimental testing and numerical analysis of heterogeneous materials using nanoindentation. Several testing methods starting from grid indentation and statistical analysis, deconvolution algorithms from individual phases' properties to focused indetation to a single phase, are investigated. The methods are applied to structural materials based on cement and fly ash. Part of the work includes numerical modeling of nanoindentaiton process and the choice of the constitutive model.
