In this contribution, an application of a genetic algorithm-based optimizer to material model parameters identification is discussed. Particularly, an optimization algorithm based on an efficient combination of Genetic Algorithm ideas with the principles of the Differential Evolution method is presented as a convenient tool for such type of problems. The current application of this method to the microplane constitutive model reveals the limitations of the formulated identification problem and offers possible means for its regularization. To bring this method closer to real use, the parallel implementation is proposed and implemented. V tomto příspěvku je představena aplikace genetického algoritmu při identifikaci parametrů mikroploškového modelu betonu. Konkrétně je pak požita kombinace tradičního genetického algoritmu s metodou diferenciální evoluce. Současné řešení nesplňuje kladené požadavky a proto je navržena nová metodologie spolu s paralelním řešením celé úlohy.
