dcterms:description
This research article shows important role of STIM1 protein in activation of bone marrow-derived mast cells. During activation process, mast cells change intracellular level of calcium and present microtubule reorganization. The molecular mechanisms for control microtubule rearrangement during activation events are still unknown. Activation of mast cells results in generation of microtubule protrusions that are calcium dependent. Experiments with knockdown or reexpression of STIM1 protein, the key regulator of store-operated calcium entry, confirmed the important role of STIM1 in the formation of protrusions. This article propose that calcium plays an important role in the formation of microtubule protrusions in mast cells and that rearrangement of microtubules in activated mast cells depends on STIM1-induced calcium entry.
