Byla stanovena úplná nukleotidová sekvence genomu fága mu1/6 ze Streptomyces aureofaciens. Velikost genomu je 38 194 bazí s celkovým obsahem bazí G+C 71,2 procent. Bylo nalezeno 52 potenciálních otevřených rámců, které jsou rozděleny do dvou opačně orientovaných operonů. V levém operonu byly nalezeny geny kodující integrasu a regulační faktory. Pravá oblast genomu obsahovala geny, které byly rozděleny do čtyř jednotek: (i) replikace, (ii) pakážování DNA a složení hlavy fága, (iii) morfogeneze nohy fága a (iv) lyze. Byla odhalena podobnost mezi fágem mu1/6 a fágem VWB z S. venezuelae. Byla také vytýčena okrajová podobnost mezi fágy infikujícími bakterie druhu Streptomyces. The entire double-stranded DNA genome of the Streptomyces aureofaciens phage mu1/6 was sequenced and analyzed. Its size is 38.194 kbp with an overall molar G+C content of 71.2 %. Fifty-two potential open reading frames were identified, divided into two oppositely transcribed regions. In the left arm of the mu1/6 genome, an identified putative integrase and possible regulation proteins were identified. The rightwards transcribed region contains genes organized into apparently four functional units responsible for: (i) replication, (ii) DNA packaging and head assembly, (iii) tail morphogenesis, and (iv) lysis. Comparative analysis with three complete genomes of streptomycete phages revealed resemblance with respect to the organization of their genes into functional modules.
