In this paper, we explore the ways in which different perspectives and methodologies can bring new insights into the workplace bullying research. Until recently, the qualitative research on workplace bullying has been almost exclusively founded on accounts of individuals who were at the receiving end of bullying. We argue, however, that this approach has significant limitations and that other perspectives must be included to adequately respond to workplace bullying. To make visible some of these limitations, we employ collective biography to explore, so far rather neglected, aspects of workplace bullying related to its representation in discourse. We ask: How can one give an account of oneself as a victim of, or a witness to, or even a perpetrator of workplace bullying? What emotional risks do these positions involve? Furthermore, we ask, what are the discursive strategies that enable us to recognize, legitimize, or resist abusive workplace relationships?
