dcterms:description
Two key aspects of cross-cultural research, applied to the personality construct of dispositional resistance to change are introduced. Dispositional resistance to change pertains to individuals’ personality-based inclination to resist change, across change situations. We review the procedures conducted for cross-culturally validating the resistance to change (RTC) scale in samples from 17 countries, representing 13 languages and four continents. Applying a Multi-Group Confirmatory Factor Analysis to data from 4201 undergraduates (average of 247 from each country) we found support for the four-factor structure of the RTC scale, demonstrating both configural and metric invariance. In the second part we tested relationships between mean RTC scores and cultural dimension scores. Specifically, we demonstrated meaningful relationships between countries’ mean RTC scores and cultural dimension scores from both the GLOBE study and Schwartz’s dimension scores.
