Drosophyllum lusitanicum (L.) Link (Portuguese dewy pine; Droseraceae) is the only carnivorous plant with distinctly xerophytic features. Drosophyllum occurs in an area with very hot and seasonally arid conditions. The aim of this study was to specify soil pH at 10 sites of Drosophyllum in Spain and Portugal, to document root morphology and root:shoot ratio, and to measure the leaf mineral nutrient content in field-grown plants. Thus, the aim is to specify the mechanisms that enable Drosophyllum to withstand hot and arid conditions. Drosophyllum lusitanicum (L.)
