Změny aktivity GGT nebyly zjištěny v jiných oblastech mozku (hypothalamus). Neúčinný i v hipokampu byl IL-1beta po intrakranioventrikulárni aplikaci. Změny aktivity GGT jsou vztahovány k pravděpodobnému oxidačnímu stresu a narušení hematoencefalické bariery IL-1beta
