The workshop was focused on presentation of new techniques and methodological approaches with possible application in a forest practice, especially silviculture. The workshop has theoretical and practical part. Under the theoretical part there were presented following topics: Perspectives of silviculture in Central Europe presented by S. Wagner from TU Dresden; L. The meaning of single-tree effects regarding to regeneration ecology - Oak regeneration, presented by L. Dobrovolny from Mendel University in Brno; Ecological aspects of thinning in young forest stands presented by J. Novak from Forestry and Game Management Institute in Opocno, „Terrestrial LiDAR in Forest research“ presented by J. Trochta from The Silva Tarouca Research Institute for Landscape and Ornamental Gardening; and „Light regime analysis in stand by Fish eye„ presented by M. Čater from Slovenian Forestry Institute. The practical part was leaded by R. Pokorny from Global Change Research Centre. Under this part of workshop, excursion in Experimental Ecological Study Site was realized with presentation of instruments for micrometeorological and eco-physiological research. New developed instrument ALAI-03D (prototype of LaiPen LP100) was described and showed as potentially suitable instrument for light and leaf area quantification.
