dcterms:description
Due to Worldwide phenomenon of microbial résistance to commonly used therapeutic agents, antibiotics and antifungals as well, a non-traditional séries of perspective ultra-short acting beta-adrenoceptor blockers, labelled as 1-4, has been in vitro evaluated against selected Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacterial strains as well as against yeast (C. albicans) by the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assay. From chemical viewpoint, the présence of polar carboxy group within the structure of tested compounds has not found to be favourable structural feature because of its supposed splitting by the enzymes which have been produced by ail concerned microorganisms. On the other hand, within inspected set of the compounds, the increase in the lipophilicity has meant moderate improvement of the effectiveness against S. aureus and C. albicans, reaching the maximum for the most lipophilic substance 4 which has shown MIC=0.78 mg?mL-1 for given bacteria and yeast as well.
