The presented paper deals with the changes in stream beds that are affected by the implemented water management measures. An analysis of hydrological and hydraulic characteristics was performed in the selected streams, always in a part with modifications and, for comparison, in a part without modifications. The water management modifications implemented to the streams are of very differing characters, that is why we included both revitalisation measures and purely technical measures (constructions going across the stream, longitudinal reinforcements). The monitored parameters include changes in the cross and longitudinal profile as well as bank stability. Within the study into bank stability, mainly the installed biotechnical reinforcements based on reinforced earth stabilization construction were examined in detail. The new scientific knowledge of the utilization of reinforced earth stabilization constructions is the core of this paper. Also experience with this and the cooperation of the construction with the root system of specific woody and herbal species are presented.
