This study was designed to evaluate basic tree characteristics of Quercus dalechampii Ten. and Quercus polycarpa Schur and to find out differences between them. Total height, height of crown base and diameter at breast height were measured before cutting. Cut stems were checked for dry rot in the basal part. Average values for both species were compared by t-test. Only the total height proved to be statistically different; the other features were quite similar for the both species. Lying stems of each tree were measured in one by one meter sections. Q. dalechampii was of bigger stem diameter from the tree foot up to the 3rd height meter; the diameter of Q. polycarpa was superior from that height upwards. Average stem diameters differed most in the first basal meter and in last two meters, which were those just under the crown base. However, the biggest inter-species difference was found in a number of stems affected by fungus diseases. Byla u nich měřena výčetní tloušťka, celková výška a výška nasazení koruny. Na pokácených kmenech bylo rovněž sledováno napadení dřevokaznými houbami. Z hodnocených vlastností se jako statisticky významný ukázal pouze rozdíl v celkové výšce. Zvláštní pozornost byla věnována vlastnostem kmene. Byla měřena tloušťka kmene od báze po nasazení koruny po 1 metru. Ukázalo se, že Q. dalechampii má průměr větší od báze kmene do výšky 3m, naopak od této výšky nahoru má kmen silnější Q. polycarpa. Nicméně oba druhy se nejvíce lišily v napadení kmene hnilobou. 57% stromů druhu Q. polycarpa mělo na řezu známky hniloby, v případě Q. dalechampii to bylo pouze 13%.
