Tematyka monografii dotyczy związków pomiędzy podstawowymi wymiarami ciała (jego wysokością i masą oraz wybranymi indeksami wzrostowo ? wagowymi) a powodzeniem w wyczynowo uprawianym tenisie. W pracy zawarto teoretyczną analizę związków pomiędzy wymiarami ciała, motorycznością tenisisty i techniką gry. W głównej części pracy analizie poddano wymiary ciała najlepszych tenisistów świata sklasyfikowanych w rankingach ATP oraz WTA oraz uczestniczących w turniejach wielkoszlemowych w latach 2001- 2006. W oparciu o analizę statystyczną poszukiwano charakterystycznych cech budowy ciała tenisistów wyczynowych. Stało się to z kolei punktem wyjścia do określenia modelowych, z punktu widzenia identyfikacji talentów, zakresów wysokości ciała. Jednoczenie przeprowadzone postępowanie badawcze pozwoliło na określenie związków pomiędzy wymiarami ciała, ukierunkowaną sprawnością fizyczną oraz strategią a także źródłem praktycznych zaleceń z punktu widzenia metodyki treningu. Założenia teoretyczne zostały skonfrontowa The presented monograph conveys a series of information on the relationships between basic body dimensions of a tennis player and the performance in this sport. As basic body dimensions we understand body height, weight and the derived height-weight indexes (BMI - Body Mass Index, ROH - Rohrer's Index and DIF - index, expressing the difference between body height and weight). The research comes out from a theoretical analysis of the relations between basic body dimensions, motorics of the player and elements of a tennis game.The main part of the study is to render an analysis of the body dimensions of top world tennis players during 2001 ? 2006. The research was realised with a set of players (men and women) ranking in the ATP and WTA and participants of grand slam tournaments during the mentioned period.On the basis of statistical analysis, the model characteristics of the observed body dimensions were determined.
