This study is aimed at children and adolescents' participation in vigorous physical activity (PA) with an investigation of electronic media usage time by gender and school type in the Czech Republic. Participants were 3032 boys and girls from seven regions of the Czech Republic. Four types of schools (urban primary school, rural primary school, secondary grammar school and apprentice school) were randomly selected in every region. A questionnaire titled %22Cross-cultural determinants of exercise participation%22 (Rehor, Centre for Human Movement, University of Tasmania; Sallis, Zakarian, Hovell, & Hofstetter, 1996) was applied in this study. Boys participated in vigorous PA more than girls in all types of schools. The highest amount of time in vigorous PA was found in both boys and girls of urban primary schools. Boys and girls of rural primary schools and girls of secondary grammar schools reported the lowest participation in vigorous PA. The amount of media usage is higher in boys t This study is aimed at children and adolescents' participation in vigorous physical activity (PA) with an investigation of electronic media usage time by gender and school type in the Czech Republic. V každém regionu byly náhodně vybrány čtyři školy (městská základní škola, vesnická základní škola, gymnázium a střední odborné učiliště). Aplikován byl dotazník %22Determinanty účasti na cvičení%22 [Cross-cultural determinants of exercise participation] (Rehor, Centre for Human Movement, University of Tasmania; Sallis, Zakarian, Hovell, & Hofstetter, 1996). U všech typů škol bylo zjištěno, že chlapci provádějí pohybovou aktivitu vysoké intenzity více času než dívky. Nejvyšší množství času stráveného intenzivní pohybovou aktivitou bylo zjištěno u chlapců a dívek městských základních škol. Chlapci a dívky vesnických základních škol a dívky gymnázia vykazovali nejnižší množství času intenzivní pohybové aktivity. Množství ča
