The on-going curricular reform is creating a good environment for the overall development of pupils? and students? personality in the Czech Republic. However, results of a widely oriented research scheduled for 2006 suggested that mathematics and natural sciences in general are not among the popular secondary school subjects. It is not mathematics itself that is the problem; it is pupils? / students? reflection of experience from learning mathematics. The key role in this respect is played by the teachers and the way they can make pupils / students see mathematics. There are a number of ways attitude towards mathematics as a school subject can be changed: mathematical competitions, solving non-standard tasks, games, projects or other motivational activities.
