Wireless sensor networks are a new fast evolving technology that has been successfully applied to the monitoring of selected phenomena in the wide range of fields interventing to the socioeconomic and enviromental domain. The wireless sensor networks in socioeconomical area are used for monitoring of health state, park places, cars, energy in buildings and logistics. Wireless sensor networks in the environmental area are used for detection of landslides, forest fires, air pollutants, volcanic activity, water quality, microclimate or irrigation planning (Asín, 2013, Murthy, 2008). The aim of this paper is to define criteria for a wireless sensor components selection. The wireless sensor network will be specialized for the monitoring of air pollution in Olomouc City. Finally, the ideal parameters for every criterion of Olomouc wireless sensor network (OWSN) will be suggested.
