Co-occurrence of As and F in groundwater in semiarid regions of Latin America has been studied with emphasis on genesis of groundwater. Principal identified factors were presence of volcanoclastics, loess or alluvial sediments, coupled to alkaline pH, and limited recharge. The methods of As and F removal are chemical precipitation, filtration and reverse osmosis. Co-occurrence of As and F in groundwater in semiarid regions of Latin America has been studied with emphasis on genesis of groundwater. Principal identified factors were presence of volcanoclastics, loess or alluvial sediments, coupled to alkaline pH, and limited recharge.
