New chiral room temperature molten salts (ionic liquids) based on the pinene-pyridinium unit associated with triflate or trifluoroacetate anions were prepared. The thermal behavior of these salts was observed by DSC and solventless H-1 NNIR spectrum, whereas the diastereomeric interactions were studied by test asymmetric reactions, GC, CD spectroscopy, and F-19 NMR spectra. X-Ray structure of iodide intermediate is presented.
