This ESF exploratory workshop will be focused on the development of quantum communication networks based on atoms and light, pursuing a novel approach relying on continuous-spectrum quantum variables. The topics discussed during the workshop shall include, but are not restricted to, the experimental as well as theoretical aspects of continuous-variable quantum key distribution protocols, the generation of squeezed and non-Gaussian entangled states of light, the purification of continuous-variable entanglement, the interaction of light with atomic ensembles and the design of atomic quantum memories for light. Tento ESF Exploratory Workshop bude zaměřen na vývoj kvantových komunikačních sítí využívajících atomů a světla. Bude sledován nový přístup spočívající ve využití kvantových proměnných se spojitým spektrem. Témata diskutovaná v průběhu workshopu budou zahrnovat experimentální i teoretické aspekty kvantové distribuce tajného klíče se spojitými proměnnými, generaci stlačených a negaussovských stavů světla, purifikaci kvantové provázanosti, interakci světla s atomovými oblaky a konstrukci kvantové paměti pro světlo.
