To Tell the Impossible. The Indian Chronicle from its Margins is a book that analyses little-know texts of the viceregal historiographical tradition. Not only does it raise questions of importance, such as the so-called literary vocation of colonial historiography, but its pages record countless issues that raised concerns in their days, making them exceptional witnesses of an era that was both prodigious and strange. The final two chapters analyse the challenge of adapting a colonial text to another, a modern one, either literary or with a cinematographic dimension. Narrar lo imposible. La crónica indiana desde sus márgenes es un libro que analiza textos poco conocidos de la tradición historiográfica virreinal, donde no sólo se plantean cuestiones de calado, como es la llamada vocación literaria de la historiografía colonial, sino que entre sus páginas se vislumbra un sinfín de temas que provocaron inquietud en su época, convirtiéndolos en testigos excepcionales de un tiempo tan prodigioso como extra?o. Los dos capítulos finales plantean el reto de la adaptación de un texto colonial a otro moderno, ya sea literario o tenga una dimensión cinematográfica.
