Flow cytometry is a method that enables the automated quantification of a set of parameters for a high number of cells or cell-like particles. It is also possible to analyze solid tissues after reduction to single cell suspension. One of the applications of flow cytometry is immunophenotyping. Flow cytometry tests for surface markers of white blood cells to determine the stage of cell maturation. Proteins on the surface of cells must be mapped properly to classify acute and chronic leukemias and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Authors demonstrate flow cytometry as a relatively less common but efficient way of lymph nodes assessment in patient with anamnesis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. They also discuss contribution of immunophenotyping to process of differential diagnostics of lymph nodes enlargement. Průtoková cytometrie je metoda, která umožňuje automatickou kvantifikaci souboru parametrů u vysokého počtu buněk nebo částic podobajících se buňkám. Je také možné vyšetřovat solidní tkáně po rozmělnění na jednobuněčnou suspenzi. Průtoková cytometrie vyšetřuje povrchové znaky na bílých krvinkách, slouží ke stanovení zralosti buněk. Pravdivé zmapování bílkovin na povrchu buněk umožňuje správnou klasifikaci akutních a chronických leukémií a non-Hodgkinských lymfomů.
