The aim of this work is to give closer information about iterlayer structure of vermiculite-chlorhexidine diacetate nanocomposite. Molecular modeling using empirical force field was performed in this study and obtained results were confronted with available experimental data of the real samples. Obtained results indicate that only certain limited amount of chlorhexidine cations can be introduced into the vermiculite interlayer space. This suggests that it is the vermiculite surface which is primarily responsible for the modulation of antibacterial properties of vermiculite-chlorhexidine diacetate nanocomposite.
