The hydrometallurgical processing of the EAF dust and steel-making sludge with the sulphuric and hydrochloric acid was investigated at the atmospheric pressure. The influence of the acid concentration, temperature, time, and liquid/solid ratio was studied. The best selectivity with regard to zinc was explored. The leach liquor was treated using the goethite precipitation. The process was modified in order to minimize the consumption of the alkalizing agent and to reduce the sulphur and zinc content in the precipitate.
