The recent growth of energy costs has led to the expansion of effective economy measure systems which are in the building industry manifested by the rising trend of building insulation. The study deals with a verification of antimicrobial properties of a new thermal insulation material called HEAT; the experiment is based on the comparison of the effects of the material on the growth and development of selected microorganisms cultured in three different types of culture media in laboratory conditions. The experiment results positively corroborate the inhibiting effect on the growth and development of the tested species of micromycetes and bacteria, which complies with the material properties stated by the producer.
