The RFID technology is a challenge for research and development (R&D) and applications not only in supply chains, but also in the area of system theory and process control. The number of tags used by companies all over the world is growing by geometry row; the R&D activities are very intensive in USA and Asia. In September 2008 a group of high-tech companies declared its intention to create a new kind of network that would allow sensor-enabled physical objects ? appliances in the home, products in a factory, cars in a city ? to talk to one another, the same way people communicate over the Internet. We have to increase the activities in Europe, especially from the point of view of research of constrains given by physical principles of technology. Parallel should be the research of RFID data safety, optimization of data structures, interactions of signals and materials of transponders and surrounding environment. Next should be the verification of EPC/RFID standards, exchange of knowledge, know- The RFID technology is a challenge for research and development (R&D) and applications not only in supply chains, but also in the area of system theory and process control.
